QUESTIONS TO THE SELECTBOARD / MA DOT

  1. Can you explain to us what the MA law state requires for easements, eminent domain for land on both sides of the bridge? Has DBR been brought up to speed on the idea that they may have land taken from them?

UPDATE: How will the temporary construction easement work? Will this Right-of-Way be done directly with DBR or will the Town of Duxbury lease play a part in this? Basically, who would receive the funds from the state for the easement? If DBR is receiving the funds, does Duxbury still pay the lease? Do residents still get access to the beach? How?

  1. Why was SGH hired in 2019 to do temporary or make safe repairs only? Why were these repairs not done on a permanent basis? Specifically, why were the cross braces not replaced and does this play into the weight issue that we currently have? Who makes these decisions?

  1. Do the Town’s people get to weigh in on this decision through a vote? Why was the concrete/steel bridge path taken before the Town voted? Why in 1986 was this done this way and not this time around? What are our exact options if it was to go to vote? Concrete/Steel Highway Bridge, A Wooden Bridge; or a compromise?
